Continental High Girls Soccer team season ended with a loss to Swanton 2-1 in the Napoleon Sectional Finals which did not diminish the accomplishments of the team. The Pirates were co-champs of the Putnam County League with Kalida. They finished with 10-5-1 record and had 3 players (Riley Fenter, Addyson Armey, and Alex Hoeffel) named to the first team PCL. A number of records were set with Hoeffel taking the game goal record (7 against Waueson) and team career goal record (now 128). Hoeffle and Armey will be Seniors next year for the Pirates. The Pirates scored 120 goals while giving up 20.
Most of the Putnam County League teams were placed in the Ottoville District (Miller City was placed in the Napoleon District). Kalida advanced to the District finals where they were defeated by Lima Central Catholic. Ottoville was the only other Putnam County team to advance to Districts and they were eliminated in the District Semifinals by Lima Central Catholic.
The Napoleon District had Swanton losing to top seed Liberty Center in the District Semifinals. Liberty Center was defeated by Archold (#2 seed) in the District Finals. The Blue Streaks ended T-Birds season in the Regional Semis 2-1. Archbold defeated Liberty Benton 1-0 to advance to the State Semifinal on Tuesday against Kirkland at Sandusky at 6 pm. The Blue Streaks Boys Soccer team also advanced to the State Semifinals and will play Kirkland at 8 pm on Tuesday. One ticket is good for both games.
Continental played regional combatants Lima Central Catholic and Archbold in the regular season. The T-birds bested the Pirates 3-1. The Blue Streaks are currently 16-1-4. The Blue Streaks scored 60 goals this season and gave up only 8 goals. The Blue Streaks have been shutout only 3 times in 2018, a loss 1-0 to Liberty Center, a 0-0 tie to Ottawa-Glandorf and a 0-0 tie to Continental. Good Luck to the Blue Streaks as the represent Northwest Ohio at State.
