The 2022 edition of Continental High Varsity Baseball will have a note of newness with a large number of new players and a new coach. The Pirates are looking at improving on their 2-19 record of 2021 that included a pair of Putnam County league wins. The Pirates are led by a group of 6 returning letterwinners — Junior P/SS Konnor Knipp Williams, and Sophomores P/IF/C Braxton Stegbaurer, P/SS Sam Newsome, P/1B Ethan Sullivan, P/C Tim Shepard, and OF Dwayne Nienberg. Others looking to be in the starting lineup include Senior P/IF Hunter Rue, and Freshman IF/P Brady Dockery, CF/P Alex Heidenescher, and OF Caleb Baker. Overall the Pirates will have 20 players suiting up for the 2022 season.
The Pirates are coached by Jordan Streicher who is in his first year as the head baseball coach. Streicher has previously served as the Pirates head softball coach for many years.
The start for the Pirates in the 2022 season has been plagued by weather with the Pirates only getting in 1 game with 3 cancelled so far. The Pirates schedule is highlighted by going Lincolnview (Division IV State Runner up), Leipsic (Regional Runner-up and PCL co-champ) and PCL Co-champs Miller City and Kalida.
