From the Putnam County Dog Shelter’s Facebook page…. An animal cruelty report has been filed with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office:
This brindle Pit mix type dog was found as a stray and it appears that both rear legs were hogtied together with a retractable leash. There was no collar on the dog. He appeared to be around 3-5 years old. This poor boy was taken to the vet’s office to get checked out. Unfortunately, the dog was put down due to the severity of the injuries to both back legs. The fella had no problem petting, touching and picking him up even under the pain he was in. Both legs were swollen, infected, exposed/torn tendons and maggots were present. The vet is unsure how long the dogs legs were tied together. He was found in a corner of barn on Rd M-10 just off of US 244, East of Kalida. It is believed that this dog had been loose in the area of US 224 between Rd M-10 and Kalida Corp Limits last week. At that time, there was no report of the dog having a collar or dragging a leash. If anyone has information on who the owner of this dog was, please call the dog warden at (419) 523-8617. An animal cruelty report has been filed with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
