A strong first and fourth quarter proved to be the difference on Tuesday when Delphos St Johns visited the Cove for non-league Boys Basketball action. The Blue Jays opened up the game with a 14-6 lead. An even second quarter left the Blue Jays with an 8 point lead at half 30-22. The Pirates kept it a game as the undefeated Blue Jays took a 48-39 lead after three. Just like the start, the finish was all Blue Jays as they finished the fourth by outscoring the Pirates by 14. Blue Jays 71, Pirates 48 final.
Mitchell Coleman led the Pirates with 27 points while Gavin Huff put in 9. Reed Warnement scored 6, Andrew Hoeffel 4, and Bryce Recker 2. Coleman made 7 three-pointers for the Pirates.
Continental moves to 0-7 and will go to Holgate on Thursday for another nonleague game. Delphos St Johns is 5-0. The Blue Jays took the Junior Varsity game 39-30.
