2026 Pirate Girls Soccer Schedule

August 12, 2026 by Adam Donaldson Leave a Comment

Not until game 3 will the Continental High Girls Soccer get to try out playing under the new lights on the Pirate Pitch.  The Pirates open the season on the road at Delphos Jefferson on August 27. The Pirates home opener will be on August 29 with Riverdale but it is a Saturday morning game.  Playing under the Pirate lights for the first time will occur on September 3 when, new to the schedule, Toledo Christian appears on the schedule.  The Putnam County League schedule opens up on the road at Fort Jennings on September 10.  The PCL home opener is on September 26 against Miller City.  Save money for gas in the second half as the Pirates go on road trips to Coldwater, Archbold, Botkins and Bryan.  Last year the Pirates were 3rd in the PCL  and made it to the District Semifinals where PCL champ Columbus Grove ended the Pirates season.  Look forward to 3 home games under the lights.

2026 Pirate Volleyball Schedule

August 12, 2026 by Adam Donaldson Leave a Comment

Continental High Volleyball will be looking to improve on a 11-13 record in 2025 and looking to return to District Tournament action.  The Pirates will open the season on August 24 at Arlington.  Arlington has a new school so this will be one of the first matches there.  The Pirates home opener is the next day, August 25, against Patrick Henry.  The Pirates will also have a new look at the Cove as resurfacing of the court has a much brighter color and a huge Pirate center court logo.  A must see for Pirate fans.  The Pirates open Putnam County League play on September 1 at Columbus Grove.  The Pirates PCL home opener will be on September 17 when Pandora Gilboa visits the Cove.  Highlighting the Pirates schedule is the tough PCL slate.  Last year 3 PCL teams made it to DVII Regionals with Kalida and Leipsic making it to the Regional Semifinals while Miller City advanced to the Regional Finals.  Kalida and Miller City were both eliminated by State Champion Tiffin Calvert.  Columbus Grove competes in the DVI and saw thereir tournament run stopped in the District Finals by State Runner up St Henry.  Look for lots of great Volleyball action this year at the Cove.  Go Pirates.

2026 Pirate Boys Soccer over CHS Alumni 2-0

August 9, 2026 by Adam Donaldson Leave a Comment

What can you say….Friday night was perfect for soccer action under the lights.  With an 8 oclock start the weather had cooled enough that only the heavy humidity provided the challenge.  The Alumni showed up with close to 30 CHS grads playing against the Continental High 2026 Boys Varsity.  It was all Varsity as Parker Okuley made it 1-0 with a chip shot over the goalie 4 minutes into the game.  The rest of the first half was action packed but no goals were scored.  The second half had the Varsity put in a second goal with 26 minutes to go when Hunter Varner found the back of the net.  The action and conditions were so good that another 20 minutes of play was put on the clock, something that would not have happened with a blistering 5 pm start.  Make sure you head out to the Pirate pitch this fall to take in some night soccer action but don’t plan on sitting in chairs on the new track.  The Boys Varsity open up the season on August 24 at 7 pm against Lima Bath.

Pirate Girls Soccer Varsity Take Alumni in Season Opening Scrimmage

August 7, 2026 by Adam Donaldson Leave a Comment

A large crowd was on hand for the 2026 Continental Girls Soccer first home game at night.  The Pirates Varsity took on a deep and talented Alumni team in a season opening scrimmage.  The festive atmosphere for the first home game under lights saw a defensive struggle.  A rain before the game cleared before gametime and left a slippery field but a comfortable temperature. The Alumni put the Varsity up 1-0 when a crossing pass was touched in by the defense early in the first half.  The Varsity would make it 2-0 later in the half when Addie Troyer put in a goal.  The second half saw both teams getting shots but the defenses held for the 2-0 final.  Hopefully you will take time  to take in the improved soccer and track facility as not only is their great lighting allowing for night games but also a nice new track surface.  The Girls Soccer first night game will be on September 3 at 7 pm against Toledo Christian.  With the new track surface seating on the track is not allowed, so be forewarned.

Pirates Remain in DVII for Girls Basketball

July 11, 2026 by Adam Donaldson

OHSAA released the placement of Girls Basketball divisions recently and Continental will remain in DVII.  In fact no Putnam County League team will be moving up or down a division.  Kalida was close with a corrected enrollment of 87 when the cutoff for DVII waw 88.  Columbus Grove will remain in DVI with a corrected enrollment of 110.  Edgerton and Oregon Cardinal Stritch had the biggest DVII corrected enrollment number at 88.  Locally Ayersville moved up from DVII to DVI while Antwerp moved down to DVII.  Other Northwest District schools moving up to DVII include Mohawk, Seneca East and Hopewell Loudon.  Other school in the Northwest District moving down to DVII are Horizon Science Academy, Monroeville, South Central, New London, Gibsonburg.  Last year the Northwest District had 5 DVII Districts with a net gain of 2 school in DVII it is unlikely that that number will change.

Continental Pirate Softball 2026 Final

July 5, 2026 by Adam Donaldson

Continental High Softball had perhaps their best season ever as the Pirates finished their season at 17-5 and 6-0 in the Putnam County League.  The Pirates collected their third straight PCL crown.  In tournament, the Pirates defeated Holgate 19-1 to take a DVII Sectional title.  In a thrilling District Semifinal the Pirates outlasted Miller City 1-0 in 10 innings at Defiance High School.  The Pirates season ended in the District Finals where on a stormy Sunday afternoon in Kenton when Hardin Northern ended the Pirates season 5-0.  In that game the Pirates had more baserunners but the Polar Bears put together their hits.  The Polar Bears season ended at Wapakoneta when Southeastern won the Regional Semifinal 6-0.  The Pirates had 3 players named to the DVII Northwest District honors with Gracie Homier named 1st team, Kenzie Searfoss 2nd team, and Ava Homier Honorable Mention.  Great Season Pirates!
