Kalida entered the Thursday night Putnam County League game knowing a win would mean they were outright PCL champs. They left little doubt as they jumped out to a 10 point lead after one, 14-4. The Wildcats outscored the Pirates by 9 in the second quarter for a 18-9 halftime lead. An even third quarter had the score 42-23 Wildcats after three. The Pirates outscored the Wildcats in the fourth 7-5 but it was not enough as the Wildcats won on their home court, 47-30.
Kalida finishes their PCL schedule with a perfect 7-0 record and are 17-5 overall while the Pirates fall to 3-18 (1-6 in the PCL). Kalida won the Junior Varsity contest 19-9.
Jade Zachrich led the Pirates with 8 points while McKenna Scott added 5. Emma Recker and Blair Tegenkamp each added 4, Alivia Homier, Amber Logan, and Ashley Mansfield each scored 3. Logan and Mansfield both made one 3-pointer.
The Pirates are back in action on Saturday February 21 at 12:30 as they host Patrick Henry in a Senior Day Game. This game is a makeup of the scheduled game last Saturday. Come on out to show your support of McKenna and Emma.
