The regular meeting for the Continental School Board was held at 7:30 p.m. on October 15, 2019 in the
administrative office. The meeting was called to order by board president Dean Bidlack.
In Mrs. Tracy Potts’ absence, Mr. Kissell gave the Elementary Principal Report:
•Students in grades K-3 learned about fire safety from our local fire department. They traveled to the fire station this
•The kindergarten students enjoyed a second trip to the Ft. Wayne Zoo.
•The Reading Pirate Club starts tonight and the Math Pirate Club starts on Thursday.
•Gifted testing will take place the first three weeks of November for grades 2 and 4.
•The first round of ELA testing for third grade students will be on October 23-24. All students will take the tests on the
•Next week we will have our first House Party. The house with the most crew cards for the nine weeks will get to have
a fall party.
•The elementary students had a lockdown drill and then evacuated to the Catholic church on Thursday, October 10th.
The church is a much better facility to use as an evacuation site.

Mr. Tim Eding, JH/HS Principal, reported:
•We held a lock-down and evacuation drill on Tuesday, September 24th to practice our procedures and help train
students on what to do in the event of an emergency. Everything went very, very well.
•PBIS update was given.
•October 16 is the PSAT for Sophomores and Juniors that have pre-registered.
•Students from our Robotics course will be going to Lima’s Makerfest on Friday with Mr. Nathan Schmidt to participate
in a competition dealing with coding and robotics.
•Friday, October 18 is the end of the 1st Quarter. Report cards should be finalized in ProgressBook early next week.
•Junior High fundraiser orders will be delivered to the school this Friday afternoon for students to pick up and deliver.
•The student council is sponsoring the Sadie Hawkins dance this Friday from 7-10:00 p.m. in the Auditorium.
•The high school band will be performing with other area high school bands and the BGSU band at Saturday’s football
game (2:00pm start).
•There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, November 1st for Professional Development. The high school staff will be
spending a portion of the day at Vantage touring their school to get a better idea of what Vantage has to offer our
•FCCLA will be traveling to Ottoville on October 22 for their annual district meeting.
•The NHS is sponsoring a Blood Drive on Wednesday, October 23 from 10:00 a.m-4:00 p.m.
•Our Juniors will be going to Defiance College on Tuesday, October 29 for a practice ACT test to help get them ready
for the state-mandated test that will occur this winter/spring.
•Our 8th graders will be going to Vantage for their “tour day” on Tuesday, November 5th.
•The Fall Play, “Clue” is scheduled for November 8, 9, and 10th.
•Our annual Veterans Day Assembly will be on Monday, November 11th at 10:00 a.m. in the high school gym.
All local veterans are welcome and encouraged to attend.
•Good luck to the Pirate sports teams beginning tournament play this week!
•Approved the following donations:
$300 from Pioneer Festival Committee to Music Fund
$250 from Sons of Americal Legion Post 541 to Music Fund
$250 from Continental Fall Fest Committee to Art Fund
•Approved the transfer of $32,200.52 from General Fund 001 to Cafeteria Fund 006.
•Approved a TIF Agreement application for R.M.K. Farming. The proposed agreement is for property improvements to
be made at 3147 Rd. 19A, Continental, Ohio and exceeds a term of more than 10 years. See attached documents.
•Approved the new insurance premiums for January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 as follows:
•The transportation report was given.
•Ron Bradford gave the Vantage Career Center report.
•Approved 8 hours of weekly after-school intervention for students in grades 1-6. Instructor rate of pay is $25.00 per
hour. The first session will run October 15th thru November 21st.
•Approved the following members for the 2019-2020 Local Professional Development Committee:
Tracy Potts, Sharon Siebeneck, Danny Kissell, Pam Retcher, and Brian Gerdeman, Secretary. Each committee
member, except the secretary, shall be paid $25.00 per hour up to a maximum of 40 hours for work performed outside
the regular workday. The secretary shall be paid $25.00 per hour up to a maximum of 50 hours for work performed
outside the regular workday.
•Approved Lindsey Wollam as a substitute secretary and aide.
•Approved revised contract for interim assistant treasurer Becky Gerschutz.
•Approved the following supplemental contracts, pending proper certification and satisfactory FBI/BCI background
checks, if applicable, for the 2019-2020 school year:

CarrieJo Verhoff, Co-Elementary Student Council
•Approved 8-week maternity leave to Jenna Warnimont. Anticipated leave will begin on approximately October 23,
