
The regular meeting for the Continental School Board was held at 6:00 p.m. on April 20, 2022 in the administration office. The meeting was called to order by board president Dean Bidlack, who opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Hearing of the Public:
Mrs. Tracy Potts, Elementary Principal, reported:
•Kindergarten screening is complete. We have screened 40 children. 13 students have signed up for
Kinderstart next year. There are currently 12 students in Kinderstart. Projected kindergarten enrollment is
52.
•The ELA state tests are complete. We will start the math tests tomorrow and Science next week.
•Students in third grade learned about Farm Safety last week. The teachers and students would like to thank
the Putnam County Extension Office along with Ruth Gerding for coordinating the event.
•The afterschool program has ended. We provided intervention services for 41 students in the areas of math
and reading.
•Sixth grade students participated in Project Respect the first week of April. Thank you to Damon and
Erin Schmidt for coordinating this program.
•Camp Willson – We have 62 students signed up to go to Camp as well as four teachers, one administrator
and two volunteers. The Krispy Kreme Fundraiser for Camp Willson was a success. We sold 691 dozen
donuts. Thank you to everyone that bought donuts. Enough money was raised to pay for all camp costs,
including riding the giant swing at camp.

Mr. Tim Eding, JH/HS Principal, reported:
•The Band had a great trip to Disney! Mr. Hoehne did a great job coordinating the trip. Thank you to the
band boosters for helping support the trip financially and to the Board for giving the students the opportunity
to go on the trip.
•Congratulations to Mr. Nathan Schmidt and the robotics team for an outstanding showing at the National
Robotics Challenge in Marion. The robotics team earned Gold in the Rescue Bot, Bronze in the Sumo Bot,
and the Combat Bot also made it to the finals!
•State Testing is wrapping up. Mrs. McIntyre is working on catching up with all of the students that were
absent and hopes to be done with everyone in the coming days.
• Mr. Damon Schmidt trained all of our Seniors in First Aid, CPR, and AED’s during state testing last week.
•Friday is the midterm of the 4th quarter. Progress reports will be sent home for students earning D’s and/or
F’s for the 4th Quarter.
•The Vape Detectors will be installed Thursday/Friday of this week.
•A group of HS students has organized a “Volley for a Cause” event that is scheduled for April 30. There
will be a volleyball tournament, themed basket raffles, a pasta dinner, and other activities to help raise money
that will be donated to the Disabled Veterans Organization. This event is open to the public!
•Prom will be held on Saturday, May 7 at the Legion. Valet Parking begins at 5:30; the Grand March will be
at 6:00. Mrs. Armey and the Juniors are working hard to make this a memorable event, as always. Post
Prom, sponsored by the parents of the Junior Class, will be held in the HS building from 10:30 p.m.-2:00 a.m.
that night.
•The Seniors will be going to Cedar Point on Monday, May 9.
•We are planning another “Community Cleanup Day” for the afternoon of May 12.
•The JH/HS Academic Awards Assembly will be on Friday, May 13 at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
•The Spring Band & Choir Concert will be on Monday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m.
•Graduation is on Sunday, May 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the gym. The Vantage Senior Awards Ceremony will be on
Monday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Van Wert HS.

Administrative Code Section 3301-23-44, and/or Board Policy 3120.04 -Employment of Substitutes, during the
2021-2022 school year. This is pending satisfactory background checks as well as a valid non-renewable temporary
substitute teaching license issued by the Ohio Department of Education to serve as a substitute teacher.
•Approved the April 2022 Putnam County Substitute Teacher List, provided by the Putnam County ESC.
•Approved Tessa Wall as a volunteer assistant for girls soccer for the 2022-2023 school year:
•The board went into executive session to discuss negotiations.
•Approve the three-year negotiated agreement between the Continental Local Board of Education and the Continental
Local Education Association, effective July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025.
The board went into executive session to discuss employment.
•Accepted the resignation of Katelyn Adams, treasurer, effective May 31, 2022.
•Approved the immediate posting of the treasurer’s position. Applicants must respond by 4:00 on Monday, May 2.
•Approved the hourly payment of $38.47 to Katelyn Adams, on an “as needed” basis, for any training and treasurer’s
work that occurs after her resignation date. Insurance benefits will term effective May 31, 2022. Current administrative
benefits such as 100% retirement and Medicare pick-up will remain in effect.
•There will be a special board meeting on Tuesday, May 3 to review treasurer applicants.
•The next regular Board meeting is May 17, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the administrative office.
