The Defiance Area Youth for Christ Auction will be held in the Extension Building at the Paulding County Fairgrounds in Paulding on Saturday, August 17 beginning at 9:30am. All money raised will go toward local Youth for Christ ministries. YFC presented the gospel to approximately 5953 students last year. Wannamacher Auctions will be conducting the sale. Among the many items listed for sale are a 1995 red Ford Mustang, two sides of pork, OSU football tickets, riding lawn mower, etc, etc. For a complete list of auction items, go to www.defyfc.org.
1973 Continental Graduate Serves As YFC Executive Director:
Rick Jones has been with Defiance Area Youth for Christ for 34 years and most recently has served as the Executive Director of Defiance Area Youth for Christ since July 1, 1996. Rick also served as a Youth for Christ Ministry Director from 1978-1996. Rick is a 1973 graduate of Continental High School and a 1978 graduate of Cedarville University. Rick has also done post graduate work in the area of Pastoral Counseling at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS). Rick came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1971 as a junior in high school through the ministry of Defiance Area Youth for Christ. Rick is married to his college sweetheart Cindy (Graduate, Cedarville University 1977), who is a State of Ohio Certified Teacher (grades 1-8) and is employed with a State of Ohio Public Chartered School. They have three children, Jonathan (Laura), Jason and Justin and four grandchildren (Alivia, Hayden, Felicity, Caroline). They have made their home in Archbold since 1978. In addition to serving as Executive Director of Defiance Area Youth for Christ, Rick serves as Pastor of Inlet Mennonite Church, Wauseon, Ohio. Rick also has a radio program “Teen Connection” that airs daily on WDFM 98.1 Defiance Ohio and writes a weekly inspirational piece entitled “Winning the Battle for a Generation” that appears in several Northwest Ohio Newspapers (The County Line, Wauseon Expositor, The Village Reporter, Paulding Progress and The Westbend News).
