Jarret Keck, Konnor Okuley, Cole Bowers, Taron Butler, Dylan Brown, Bryce Slattman, Alex Hale, and Isaiah Good shared the pre-game spotlight as the Pirates held Senior Day recognition activities before the Saturday game against Liberty Benton. The Pirates started the game strong with 8 seniors in the starting line up and had a great opportunity to take a lead when a cross hit the inside of the post and bounced out for an Eagle save. The Eagles did that one better at the 23:09 mark when a centering pass in the penalty box found an open Eagle for the score. Eagles 1, Pirates 0. The Eagles expanded the lead to 2-0 when a center forward weaved around the Pirates defense at the 18:11 mark to make it 2-0 Eagles. The Pirate offense put one in the net at 2:18 when Senior Isaiah Good fired in a shot from just outside the penalty area off a Pirate throw in. Eagles 2, Pirate 1 at half.
The second half saw the Pirates have plenty of opportunities to put in the equalizer but it was the Eagles to put in the only score of the half with 2:13 remaining in the game on a penalty kick. Eagles 3, Pirates 1 final.
Continental had 9 shots on goal to the Eagles 6. Pirate Goalie Taron Butler made 3 saves. The Eagles had 3 corner kicks.
Continental is now 7-6-2 and closes out the season on Tuesday when they travel to Pettisville for a non league game. Liberty Benton improve to 5-5-3. Continental won the Junior Varsity game 3-1.
Unofficially Pirate Seniors have put in 25 of the 34 goals that the Pirates have scored this year. Konnor Okuley (10), Cole Bowers (6), Isaiah Good (3), Jarret Keck (2), Alex Hale (2) Taron Butler (1), Bryce Slattman (1), and Dylan Brown have all contributed mightily to make the Pirate offense work. Congratulations Pirate Seniors and Good Luck in Tournament!
