On Friday night the Continental Girls Basketball team hit the road for the season opener and headed to the Walk-in Closet at Spencerville. The Bearcats won the tip and proceeded to put in the first 4 points of the game on a basket followed up by a pair of made free throws. Katie Keller got the Pirates on the board with a made free throw to make it a 4-1 Bearcat lead. A 3 by the Bearcats was countered by a Pirate Addyson Armey 2 to make it 7-3. The Bearcats would put in the last bucket of the quarter to make it 9-3 Bearcats after 1.
The second quarter was all Bearcats as they put in the first 16 points of the quarter on a combination of transition baskets and some 3 pointers to open up a 22 point advantage 25-3 Bearcats. A 3 by Madelyn Potts made it 25-6 Bearcats. The Bearcats would finish the quarter making a 3. 28-6 Bearcats at half.
The Pirates opened up the second half with Madi Sharp hitting a technical free throw (Bearcats did not have correct numbering in the scorebook). The only other points in the third quarter was a three by Kerri Prowant while the Bearcats put in 3 baskets. Bearcats 34, Pirates 10 after 3.
The fourth quarter went the Pirates way as they outscored the Bearcats 11-9. Addy Armey put in 7 in the final quarter while Potts and Keller put in 2 each. Bearcats 43, Pirates 21.
Addyson Armey led the Pirates with 9 points while Madelyn Potts had 5. Katie Keller and Kerri Prowant both had 3. Madi Sharp had 1 point. Armey, Potts, and Prowant all made one 3 pointer.
Continental falls to 0-1 and will host Lincolnview on Saturday. The Bearcats stand at 1-0.
The game was broadcast on the Zsports network and was the first game on the Zsports feed.
