CONTINENTAL – Novella Bartley, 80, of Continental, died at 12:55 p.m. on March 25, 2022 at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. She was born on November 11, 1941 in Pikeville, Kentucky to the late James and Mary (Taylor) Abshire. In 1969, she married Howard Bartley, who preceded her in death on September 12, 2018.
Survivors include two children: Randy (Danni) Bartley of Continental and Kelly (Greg) Mahlman of Maumee; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Earl Abshire; and two sisters: Patty Hunt and Rosalee Hensley.
She was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Demetrius Meeks; six brothers: Burl, Ireland, Eugene, Phil, Lawson and infant Lautchey Abshire; and two sisters: Virgie Justice and Ruby Ellis.
Novella retired in January of 2008 from Campbell Soup, Napoleon. She was a member of Church of Christ, Defiance and former member Church of Christ, Grapevine, Kentucky.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with DeWayne Abshire officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Dupont. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 – 7 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
