
Saturday afternoon the Lady Pirates took the bus west to Paulding for a non league matchup. The Panthers came out and scored the first four but the Pirates more than matched that by scoring the next 9. At the end of one, Pirates 9 Panthers 4. The Panthers scored the first basket in the second, the Pirates countered that by scoring the next 7 for a Pirate 16-6 midway through the second. The Panthers scored the last four of the half for a 16-10 Pirate advantage at half. The Panther scoring run continued in the third as they scored the first 8 points of the quarter and ended up winning the quarter 14-4. So after 3 it was Paulding 24- Continental 20. The fourth quarter saw the teams exchanging baskets with Paulding getting the 39-34 win.
The Pirates were led in scoring by McKenna Scott with 13 (1 three pointer) and Alivia Homier with 9 (2 three pointers). Jade Zachrich finished with 6, Amber Logan 4 and Ashley Mansfield 2.
The Panthers improve to 1-17 while the Pirates fall to 3-15. The Panthers also took the Junior Varsity contest.
The Pirates next hit the hardwood on Tuesday February 10 at Wayne Trace.
