On Thursday night Continental High Boys Soccer team traveled to the North side of Lima to take on Lima Temple Christian in a non league makeup game. The game was originally scheduled for September 3rd but heavy rain prevented the action from taking place. Early on it was Continental controlling the action with no success at scoring that changed at the 9:09 mark in the first half when Senior Noah Becher put in a shot from the 10. Rhenn Armey picked up the assist on this goal. It was almost 1-0 at half when a series of plays put the Pirates up 2-0 with 26 second left in the half. The Pioneer goalie punched the ball out of the goal box only to have Becher put it in on the fly. Senior Trevor Brecht got the assist on the Pirates second goal. Pirates 2, Pioneers 0 at half.
The Pirates made it 3-0 when Goalie Konnor Knipp-Williams’ goal kick sailed over a number of Pioneer defenders and got to Rhenn Armey to put in a shot through 4 Pioneer defenders. Pirates 3, Pioneers 0. The Pirates would get another goal from Armey when he put in a pass from Westin Okuley into the net with 10:44 left in the game. Pirates 4. Pioneers 0 final.
Pirates had 12 shots on goal to the Pioneers 3. Both teams had 4 corner kicks. Pirate goalie Konnor Knipp-Williams had 3 saves in the shutout win.
