Continental – Roman Eickholt, Jr., 67, of Continental died 5:35 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at the Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born September 25, 1946 in Lima to the late Roman S. and Agnes J. (Schwaiger) Eickholt, Sr. Also his step-mother, Margaret (Wehri-Dickman) Eickholt is deceased. On December 5, 1970, he married Patricia Anne Hickey who survives in Continental.
Roman is also survived by three sons: Shane Eickholt of Continental, Blake Eickholt of Cloverdale and Heath Eickholt of Continental; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Bob (Donna) Eickholt, Terry (Stacy) Eickholt and Alan Eickholt (Ann Rayle) all of Cloverdale; 4 sisters: Mary (Ken) Doseck of Upper Sandusky, Bonnie (Bill) Beining, Leah (Dan) Ditto and Lisa (Albert) Bilimek all of Cloverdale. He is preceded in death by a brother, John Eickholt and a sister, Joyce Eickholt.
He worked at Powertrain Division of General Motors in Defiance. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Continental, member of American Trap Shooter Association, National Rifle Association and various game clubs. He was a veteran of the Army. Roman enjoyed gardening, refinishing antiques, hunting and fishing. He dedicated his life to his wife, sons and his grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Continental, with Fr. Mark Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Creek with a military graveside by Continental American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental. Memorials may be given to the family.
