To the 2014 Fall Festival Committee:
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! It was a wonderful weekend in our little town and all of you – too numerous to mention – made it happen. Many of you were there on Thursday setting up the tents and getting Main Street ready for the festival and then you were back on Friday, putting on the final touches. (Which means you probably took vacation time off from work to help put on the festival for our community.) And yet, come Monday, Main Street was back to normal which meant you worked really hard on Sunday evening cleaning up.
The car show (Team Corbitt – awesome job!), the food, the bands, the parade, the burn-out contest, amusement rides, dodge ball, and all the other special events were well organized and well attended. These things don’t just happened, someone has spent a lot of hours planning and working.
The festival provides great fundraising opportunities for all the organizations that do so much for our community – POP (Parents of Pirates), the Lions, United Methodist UMW, the Masonic Lodge, the Firemen and EMS, and the list goes on and on. Local folks spending money with local groups who in turn help local folks.
I was a spectator, enjoying the weekend with my grandchildren (they especially loved Parker Wildermuth’s petting pen). It was a great weekend for families like mine to come back home to Continental, see people they hadn’t seen in years, and get back in touch our community. I would guess there are many others who join me in offering a very sincere THANK YOU to the 2014 Fall Festival Committee – it was GREAT!!
