A fast start by the Continental High Boys Basketball team was not enough to offset the second half effort put in by the host Holgate Tigers on Thursday night. The Pirates got off to a great start and took the first quarter by 4. Pirates 13, Tigers 9 after 1. A slower scoring pace in the second still had the score going the Pirates way, as the Pirates outscored the Tigers by 1. Pirates 19, Tigers 14 at half. The Tigers came out of the locker room and controlled the second half. The Tigers doubled up the Pirates in the third to reduce the deficit to 1. Pirates 23, Tigers 22 after 3. The final quarter was all Tigers as they put 18 on the board to the Pirates 9. Holgate 40, Continental 32 final.
Mitchell Coleman led the Pirates with 19 points. Gavin Huff put in 5, Bryce Recker 4, Reed Warnement and Tarron Butler 2 each. Coleman hit 3 threes for the Pirates.
Continental falls to 0-8 and will visit Lima Perry on Saturday December 29. Holgate improves to 1-4.
