
On Wednesday night a called third strike ended a Lincolnview rally in the top of the seventh and ended the game in the Lady Pirates favor. The District semifinal at Elida saw the #7 seed Lincolnview and #8 seed Continental battle back and forth with the Pirates gaining the 1 run victory. The Pirates jumped on the scoreboard first by plating single runs in the bottom of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead. The Lancers scored 2 in the top of the fourth to make it a 1 run game. The Pirates scored 2 more in the bottom of the fourth to regain the 3 run lead 5-2 after 4. The fifth inning had the Lancer tie the game 5-5 only to have the Pirates score 4 more in the bottom half of the inning. The Lancers made it a one run game in the sixth by plating 3, 9-8 Pirates. The Pirates scored one in their half of the sixth to take a 2 run lead into the seventh. A Lancer last inning rally was stopped at 1 run leaving the Pirates a 10-9 victor.
Amber Logan was the winning pitcher for the Pirates. The Pirates pounded out 16 hits with each batter getting at least one hit (8 of those hits were doubles). Kayla Troyer had a night to remember as she had 3 hits (2 doubles), scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs. Jade Zachrich had a double, 2 singles, scored 2 runs, and had an RBI. Emily Logan had a pair of doubles. Alex Quigley had a single and a double, scored 2 runs and had an RBI. Amber Logan had a single and a double.
The Pirates are now 9-8 and will play #1 seed Crestview on Friday at Elida in the District final at 5 pm. Crestview advanced by defeating #4 seed Hicksville 6-5 on Tuesday. The winner will advance to the Findlay Regional Semifinal on Wednesday May 25 at 5:00. Lincolnview falls to 8-14.
