The 2016 Pirate Softball team advanced as far as any Continental Softball team had in history and history has repeated itself as Crestview ends a fine season in Tournament play. The game started even as both team were held scoreless after 1. The Knight shutout continued in the second but in the bottom half of the second Crestview put 3 on the board. More of the same in the third as the Pirates were held scoreless but the Knights plated 5. The fourth was scoreless (Knights 8, Pirates 0). The fifth had the Pirate offense come alive as Alivia Homier led off with a walk and was followed by three singles (Ashley Mansfield, Jade Zachrich, and Alex Quigley) as the Pirates scored a run and had bases loaded with no outs. A flyout to center by Kayla Troyer was the first out of the inning and the Knights turned a double play as their pitcher snagged a hot liner off Amber Logan and tossed out the Pirate runner at third. Crestview scored 2 more in the bottom of the fifth to make it 10-1. A Crestview run in the sixth ended the Pirates season as the Knight win 11-1.
Amber Logan took the loss for the Pirates. The Pirates had 5 hits. Jade Zachrich was 2-2 (2 singles and an RBI). Alex Quigley was 2-3 (two singles). Ashley Mansfield had a single. Alivia Homier walked in both of her play appearances and scored the Pirate run.
The Pirates season ends at 9-9 while the Knights improve to 22-4.
The Pirates five seniors (Alex Quigley, Kristen Mumea-Long, Emily Logan, Kayla Troyer, and Ameila Weller) leave the field with a memorable season. Thanks to all the Pirate Softball team for the great times this season. The Pirates are coached by Jordan Streicher, Leva Weller, and Don Williams.
