
Continental High School had two competitors that qualified for the OHSAA Division III Track and Field Regionals at Tiffin. Junior Paige Lawhorn advanced in the 100m Hurdles and the 300m Hurdles. In the 100m Hurdles Paige ran a 16.50 good for 13th place in the qualifying round (top 8 advance). She was 0.34 second away from advancing . In the 300m Hurdles Paige ran a 50.62 good for 13th place in the qualifying round.
In the boys events Junior Jacob Williams ran a 52.89 good for 11th in the qualifying round. Jacob was 0.78 seconds form advancing.
Although the Pirate Track trail ended at Tiffin a number of athletes from Putnam County advanced to the State meet. Two county competitors stood out. Columbus Grove’s Lynne Diller and Ottoville’s Brooke Mangas not only won events in the Division III Track meet but their efforts were the best of the day regardless of Division. Diller won the Discus with a 159’ 6” effort a good 8 foot longer than any other competitor. Mangas jumped 5’10 in the High Jump and was 3” higher than a host of other competitors. Mangas set the State Division III record with jump.
