Continental High Girls Basketball put together a season that saw their first Sectional Semifinal since 2008 when Greg Spitnale was Coach and the most wins since 2020 when KC Knowles was coach. The reward was to face #1 seed and #3 overall in MAXPrep DVII Miller City. The Wildcats had won the previous meeting early in the year 62-22. The Wildcats put away thoughts of a Pirate upset early as they had a 9 point run in the first quarter and a 12 point run in the second quarter.
The Wildcats opened up the game with the first 5 points. The Pirates went inside to Senior Center Olivia Crossgrove and was rewarded with a basket a free throw. Wildcats 5-3. A basket by the Wildcats and another Crossgrove basket and it is still a 2 point game Wildcats 7-5. The Wildcats would pour in the last 7 points of the first to take a 14-5 lead after 1. After a Wildcat basket to start the second quarter Crossgrove put in a basket for the Pirates. Wildcats 16-7. The Wildcats would hit a basket and the Pirates would get a pair of free throws by Sophomore Kamryn Searfoss. Wildcats 18-9. The Wildcats would put in the last 14 points of the half to take a 32-9 lead at intermission. The Wildcats would take the second half 20-8 with the Pirates scoring 6 in the third off a basket by Senior Mckenzie Shock, a basket and free throw from Freshman Kinley Stegbauer and a free throw from Crossgrove. A basket from Crossgrove in the fourth would finish off the Pirates scoring. Wildcats 54-17.
Senior Oliva Crossgrove scored 10 points and had a number of rebounds to add to her Pirates career rebound record. Freshman Kinley Stegbauer put in 3. Senior Mckenzie Shock and Sophomore Kamryn Searfoss both scored 2 points.
Continental finishes 2025-25 at 8-16. Miller City 22-2 moves onto the DVII Elida District finals on Saturday where they will play McComb.
Wednesday marked the final game for Pirate Seniors Ella Siefer, Olivia Crossgrove and McKenzie Shock. Seniors Thanks for a great season and lots of memories. Good Luck in your future endeavors!
