From CHS Guidance Counselor, Debara McIntyre at the JH/HS Academic Awards Program:
As I reflect on what I’ve heard here today, the future of these seniors looks very promising. There are many potential nurses, teachers, skilled technicians, engineers, and medical professionals among many others to lend their expertise to the world someday. We will all be very interested when they come back and share some of their experiences with us. Just some statistics of interest for the class of 2018: out of 34 graduating seniors, 13 of them or 38% are planning to enter the workforce, and most of them have full-time employment already lined up or are getting work experience plus a college education paid for through an apprenticeship program. 20 or 60% of them have plans to attend college either at a 4 year university or a 2 year community college. And 1 is proudly serving our country in the military. (we thank you in advance for your dedication and service). As you have heard this afternoon, the accolades of this senior class is quite lengthy. To go along with their academic resumes these students have racked up quite a monetary stash as well. A total of $783,880 in award money has been earned by the class of 2018 – Congratulations! That just goes to show that there’s money out there if you just go for it! Seniors of 2019 take heed, it will be your turn next year. Good luck to all the seniors and congratulations again on a job well done!
