Changes. That is what the Continental High Boys Basketball has this year as 2 long time staples are off the schedule. Continental has played Tinora since they became a school in 1965 but the Rams are not on the 2019 schedule along with Archbold who the Pirates have played since 1981. Lima Perry who has been on and off the Pirate schedule since the 70s are again on the “off” list. New to the schedule is the McDonalds Holiday Tournament at Bluffton and North Central. Over the Holiday Break (December 27 and 28) the Pirates will try to win the Big Mac against a field of Bluffton, Arlington, and Cory Rawson. North Central will come to Continental on Saturday January 25, which is also the Pirates homecoming game. The Pirates season opens on Friday November 29 at Paulding. The home opener is on Saturday December 7 with Lincolnview coming to town. The Pirates start out the Putnam County League Schedule on Saturday January 4 hosting Leipsic. The first PCL road game is at Miller City on January 10. Senior Night is on Friday February 7 against Ottoville.
If you are heading to the Hicksville game and don’t care if you miss some of the Junior Varsity game consider heading to the Christmas Cruise Thru at the Defiance Fairground. A free-will donation will let you ride around the grounds and see a great light show. The Cruise Thru operates from 6-9 on that Friday night.
