Continental will open up the 2020 Boys Soccer season with the Lima Bath Kickoff Classic on August 24-25. Continental is the defending champ with a pair of wins over Lima Bath and Lima Central Catholic. Paulding is the other team in the Kickoff Classic. The Pirates then jump into their PCL schedule with the home opener against Miller City on September 4. New to the Pirate schedule is Northwood (Away Septmember 12) and Ottawa Hills (Away October 3). Napoleon and New Knoxville are not on the 2020 schedule. The Pirates get an early finish to the PCL schedule as they finish up league play on Friday Sept 25 at Kalida. The Pirates will host Liberty Benton on October 10 for Senior Day.
COVID changes announced so far affecting soccer include only Pregame conference moved to center field with each team having 1 coach and Captain attending meeting with no handshakes. Pregame introductions will be done with Players in position on the field and no pregame handshakes. No post game handshakes. Bench players are to be spread 6 feet apart.
The OHSAA’s fall sports of field hockey, soccer and football have been determined to be high-contact sports and the OHSAA continues to work with the Governor’s Office and the Ohio Department of Health toward modified protocols for those three sports to have contests.
