June 7, 2026 by Adam Donaldson

2026 Continental High Baseball enjoyed their best Putnam County League season in 30 years as they finshed the PCL with a 3-4 record good for fifth place.  The Pirates record of 6-18 had the most wins in a season in the post COVID era.  The Pirates catcher Senior Jayden Pitney earned second team honors batting .258 while leading the team with 19 runs, 2 triples, 1 home run and 21 steals.  Pitney was also 2-3 on the mound with 53 strikeouts.  Honor Mention went to Seniors Quinn Tegenkamp, Rhettik Bowers, and Jackson Bidlack.  Tegenkamp led the Pirates in batting average at .377 and 26 hits while scoring 11 runs.  Bowers, Pirate pitching ace, was 2-6 with a 4.33 ERA and 45 strikeouts.  From the plate Bowers earned 19 walks, hit a triple, scored 9 time and had 7 RBIS.  Player of the Year was Griffin Klausing from Kalida while Coach of the Year was Dusty Pester from Miller City.  Columbus Grove and Miller City both tied for the PCL league crown with a 6-1 record.
Seniors Quinn Tegenkamp, Coltin Hiltner, Rhettik Bowers and Jackson Bidlack were named PCL Scholar Athletes.
