Host Ottoville came into the game with a #7 ranking in Girls Division IV Basketball and set the tone early in this Thursday night Putnam County League matchup. The Big Green hit a pair of threes to score the first 6 points. Pirate Katie Keller put in a basket to make it 6-2. The Big Green would score the rest of the points in the quarter to have a 18-2 lead after 1. The Big Green would score the first 5 points of the second quarter to open up a 23-2. Pirate Kerri Prowant would make basket to make it 23-4. A 9 point Big Green run was stopped when Prowant would make 2 free throws. 32-6 Big Green. A pair of baskets by the Big Green were equaled by a pair of baskets by the Pirates (Alex Hoeffel and Keller) to make it 36-10 Big Green at half.
The Pirates put in the first two of the second half when Catelyn Etter put in a basket to make it 36-12 Big Green. A 5 point Big Green run was stopped by Prowant put in a basket 41-14 Big Green. Pirate Prowant then scored 6 of the next 11 points when she hit 2 baskets and 2 free throw 46-20 Big Green. A three by the Big Green made it 49-20 after 3. Prowant ended up putting 8 points on the board in the third.
The fourth quarter saw the Big Green outscore the Pirates 13-6 as Pirates got points from Madelyn Potts (2 free throws), Alex Hoeffel (3 pointer), and Addyson Armey (1 free throw) Big Green 62, Pirates 26 final.
Kerri Prowant lead the Pirates with 12 points while Alex Hoeffel put in 5. Katie Keller put in 4, Madelyn Potts 2, Catelyn Etter 2, and Addyson Armey 1. Hoeffel had the only 3 pointer for the Pirates while the Big Geen had 10. Continental shot 7-8 from the foul line.
Continental is now 2-10 (1-2 PCL) and will host Fort Jennings on Thursday in another PCL game. Ottoville improves to 12-2 (2-1 PCL).
