Saturday saw an early start work to the Pirates advantage as they defeated the Lima Temple Pioneers 52-45 in non league action at the Cove. The two teams played even in the first quarter at 12 all. Both teams almost repeated the first quarter in the second scorewise as the Pioneers put another 12 on the board while the Pirates put in 13 for a Pirate 25-24 advantage at half. The Pirates doubled up the Pioneers in the third 14-7 for a 39-31 advantage. Temple Christian won the fourth by 1 but it was not enough as the final tally was Pirates 52, Pioneers 45.
Continental was led in scoring by Wade Stauffer with 20 points and Caleb Olds 9 points. Tyler Brecht and Trevor Williamson both had 7. Nick States had 5 and Jacob Williams had 4. Stauffer had 2 three pointers while States, Brecht, and Olds had each had one.
The Pirates are now 2-0 and will next play at home against Hicksville on Friday. Lima Temple Christian is now 0-2.
