
July 24, 2018 the Village of Continental Council met in regular session with all members present. The minutes from the previous meeting were read and approved and bills were approved.
-A building permit was approved for a resident who wanted to install a vinyl fence.
-Denny Ordway, representing the American Legion Post asked for permission to dig 4-5 feet into the Village alley on the east side of the building to improve drainage for the Legion. They are currently having foundation issues and will be doing repairs and would like to direct water away from the building. Council approved.
– The Village needs to replace two high service pumps at a cost of $29,965. Darby requested a transfer of $30,000 from the General Fund to the Water Fund to pay for these repairs and then amend the appropriation ordinance to increase the Water Fund spending in Contractual Services by $30,000. Council approved.
– Mayor Miller asked for approval for a three year contract at the cost of $1,560 per year for HAP Industries to install, repair & maintain, remove and store Christmas decorations from November to January on 12 on the downtown light poles. Council approved.
– The transfer of money to the STAR Ohio account has been completed and council moved to open another account with STAR to move some money into as the rate of return is much higher than the village can get locally. Also, changed signers on the Account to the Fiscal Officer and Council President and made the Mayor view only.
– The cement pad has been poured and the generator is ready to be installed within 7-10 days. The Potassium Permangante equipment and supplies are here and are ready to be installed.
– Council went into Executive Session to discuss discipline of employees. They came out of executive session with no action taken.
