Emma M. “Katie” Brown, 1930 – 2021

JUNCTION – Emma M. “Katie” Brown, 91, of Junction, died Saturday, June 12, 2021 at her son’s residence surrounded by family. She was born May 3, 1930 in Paulding County to the late Charles and Matilda “Tillie” (Klima) Yenser. On September 3, 1947, she married Alvin H. Brown who preceded her in death on December 13, 1993.

  Katie is survived by 4 children:  Lora (Bud) Ratliff of Oakwood, Wanda (Cecil) Curry of Fosters, AL, Alvin (Becky) Brown of Defiance and Kelly (Kirk) Hale of Northport, AL; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren;  3 great-great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Evelyn Schlegel of Paulding; and several nieces and nephews.

  Katie was also preceded in death by a son, Bill Brown;  3 brothers: Billy, Gale and Walt Yenser; 4 sisters: Virginia Doster, twin Amy Noffsinger, Lucille Dangler and Viva Brown.

  Katie was “grandma” to many who knew her. She was a huge NASCAR fan. One of her fondest memories was on her 90th birthday when family and friends got together and did a drive-by birthday parade due to covid restrictions. She was loved by so many.

  Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood with Pastor Charles Schmunk officiating.  Burial will follow in Sherman Cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
