
The Rockets were flying on the score board the first 3 quarters of the Putnam County League game between Pandora Gilboa and host Continental on Saturday. The Rockets came out firing as they put in the first 8 points of the game with a pair of 3’s and a 2. The Pirates got on the board with a Makenzie Shock basket. Rockets 8-2. A Rocket basket and made free throw made it 11-2 Rockets. The Pirates closed out the quarter with a pair of free throws from Morgan Schock made it 11-4 Rockets after 1. The Pirates would get a Makenzie Shock free throw to make it a 6 points game 11-5 Rockets. The Rockets would go on a 16 point run to close out their first half total at 27. The Pirates would finish off the half scoring with a 3 point play converted by Olivia Crossgrove. Rockets 27-8 at half.
The Rockets opened up the second half with a made free throw which the Pirates followed up with a basket by Ashlyn Dudgeon. Rockets 28-10. A pair of basket by the Rockets put them at 32. The Pirates would close out their third quarter scoring with a Becca Stark basket. The Rockets would hit a pair of 3s to finish off the third. Rockets 38-12. It was all Pirates in the fourth as they outscored the Rockets by 4. The Pirates would pour in 11 points with Makenzie Shock making a pair of baskets, Ella Siefer, Crossgrove, and Stark making a basket and Dudgeon making a free throw. Rockets 45-23 final.
The Pirates were led in scoring by Makenzie Shock with 7 points, Olivia Crossgrove scored 5, Becca Stark 4, Ashley Dudgeon 3, Ella Siefer and Morgan Crossgrove 2 each. The Pirates did not make a 3 pointer while the Rockets put in 6. Crossgrove had 16 rebounds and 5 blocks. Makenzie Shock had 8 steals.
Continental falls to 0-17 (0-5 PCL) and will host Paulding on Saturday. Pandora Gilboa improves to 7-10 (2-3 PCL).
