
On Saturday visiting Arcadia got off to a great start and then host Continental played them even the rest of the way. The Redskins opened up the scoring with a basket, 3 free throws and a 3 pointer to take an early 8-0 lead. The Pirates would cut the Redskins lead in half when Cassie Pier made a pair of free throws and Olivia Crossgrove made a basket. Redskins 8-4. A Redskin basket was followed by a pair of baskets by Makenzie Shock. Redskins 10-8 after 1. Morgan Shock opened up the second quarter scoring with a free throw. Redskins 10-9. Seven points by the Redskins made it an 8 point game 17-9. A free throw by Pier made it 17-10. A basket by the Redskins finished their scoring for the half as the Pirates added 8 more to their total with baskets from Makenzie Shock, Kamryn Searfoss, Crossgrove, and Pier. Redskins 19-18 at half.
Searfoss opened up the second with a basket to give the Pirates a 20-19 lead. The Redskins poured in the next 8 points to take a 27-20 lead. Kinely Stegbauer stopped the Redskin run with a basket to make it 27-22. A Redskin free throw would finish off the third scoring. Redskins 28-22 after 3. The Pirates would make it a 3 point game when Pier made a free throw and Crossgrove a basket. Redskins 28-25. A 5 point Redskin run was stopped when Searfoss would make a basket. Redskins 33-27. In the end the Redskins would put in 8 more to their total while the Pirate would add 6 with Morgan Shock making 3 free throws and a basket and Crossgrove making a free throw. Redskins 41-33 final.
Olivia Crossgrove led the Pirates with 7 points and 9 rebounds. Morgan Shock added 6 points and 5 rebounds. Kamryn Searfoss, Mackenzie Shock, and Cassie Pier all added 6. Kinley Stegbauer put in 2 points. The Redskins made the only 3 of the day. The Pirates were 9-16 from the line while the Redskins were 16-23.
Continental falls to 1-5 and will host Lima Central Catholic on Tuesday. Arcadia improves to 2-2.
