Leah and Kenzie Searfoss hit home runs to pace the host Continental High Softball to a Putnam County League victory over Kalida on Tuesday. It was a team effort for the Pirates as all players in the game put up offensive numbers. After holding the Wildcats scoreless in the first the Pirates put 9 on the board for the early 9-0 lead. The second inning was all Pirates as they plated 10 runs to take a 19-0 lead after 2. The Pirates put 4 more runs on the board in the third to take a 23-0 lead. No more runs were scored as the Wildcats were 1 hit by Pirate Ace Gracie Homier. Pirates 23-0 final.
Leah Searfoss led the Pirate offense with a home run and single, scoring a run, driving in 5 runs. Kenzie Searfoss also hist a home run and a single, scored and drove in 3 runs, and earned a walk. Maeci Dockery hit 2 singles, scored 4 times, drove in 2 runs, and got hit by a pitch. Gracie Homier had a pair of hits, scored 3 times, drove in 4 runs, walked twice and stole a base. Kimberly Grant got a hit, scored 3 times, walked and stole a base. Mallorie Barnhart got a hit, scored 3 times, drove in a run, walked, was hit by a pitch and stole a base. Ava Homier got a hit, scored a run, and stole a base. Becca Sullivan hit a double, drove in 2 runs, was hit by a pitch and walked once. Rachel Matthews got a hit, drove in a pair of runs, and stole a base. Ryley Winkle got a hit, scored and stole a base. Delani Hiltner walked and scored a run. Mackenzie Niese scored 3 times. Chloe Larry walked.
Gracie Homier picked up the win for the Pirates going 5 innings giving up 1 hit while striking out 8. Kalida committed 4 errors. Continental improves to 10-2 (3-0 PCL) and will host Upper Scioto Valley on Thursday. Kalida falls to 3-10 (1-1 PCL).
