Alice Rebecca Matthews, 96, of Scranton passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, February 8, 2024, at High Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Scranton.
Alice was born in Florence County. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lexie Hutchinson and Estelle McKnight Hutchinson. Alice was a member of High Hill Free Will Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school teacher for over 50 years in the RL Hutchinson Bible Class. She was employed with Wentworth Manufacturing until they closed and later on worked for Lake City Family Nursing Home and Lake City Disabilities and Needs Center. Alice loved working in her yard and planting flowers and vegetables.
Surviving are her daughter, Betty M. Corkwell (Larry) of Continental, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Eula Mae Matthews of Darlington; many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many loving, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Carter Matthews; her sons, Rick Matthews, and Roger Wayne Matthews; and by her siblings, William, Randolph, R.L. Jr., R.E. (Bob), and Franklin.
