
School Board members and administrators from the 13 associate schools that attend Vantage, and the Putnam County ESC superintendent and its Board of Education, enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by Culinary Arts students at the 38th annual Vantage All Boards Dinner on Thursday night, April 9, 2015. Guest speakers for the evening event were Ohio Senator Cliff Hite and Ohio House Representative Tony Burkley.
The Vantage Board of Education held their April Board meeting in the District Conference room prior to the dinner. The minutes from the March 5, 2015 regular board meeting were approved along with financial statements for the month of February, 2015. Superintendent Staci Kaufman updated the Board on current employment searches. Adult Education Director Pete Prichard reported on enrollment services, upcoming 2015-2016 class schedules, and data collection of adult education employment information via a portal on the Vantage website. High School Director Ben Winans recognized four BPA students who are eligible to compete in the National Contest along with FFA, and FCCLA state competitors. He also presented information on preliminary enrollment numbers for the 2015-2016 school year, program updates, and special activities.
In new business, the Board:

Accept the resignation of John Ringwald, Evening Custodian/Maintenance, effective March 24, 2015;

Accept the resignation of Carol Schaefer, Adult Education Medical Assistant Instructor, effective June 30, 2015;
Approve the revised Transitions Enrollment Coordinator job description, Adult Education;
Approve the employment of Stephen Burrow, second shift Custodial Maintenance;
Approve an overnight field trip to Wooster, Ohio for FFA State Ag Mechanics Competition from April 9 to April 10, 2015;
Approve overnight travel to Anaheim, California for National BPA Leadership from May 6- 10, 2015;
Accept the donation of Black & Decker power tools, valued at $1610.00, from Tractor Supply Co of Van Wert, Ohio for the Trade and Industry Programs;
Accept the donation of a 1999 Honda CR-V, with the value of $1777.00, from Barbara Leighton, Van Wert, Ohio for the Auto Technology Program;
Accept the donation of chromoly tubing, valued at $2830.52, from Advanced Chassis, Antwerp, Ohio for the Welding Program;
Resolution to accept the 2015-2016 Student Handbook;
Approve the Enterprise Zone Agreement for tax exemption (100%, 10 years) for Elmco Engineering as presented, and waive the 45-day notification requirement;
Approve the side agreement between Elmco Engineering, Grill Road, Van Wert, and Vantage Career Center, as referenced in the Enterprise Zone Agreement, for the equivalent of 5% of abated taxes;
Approve the individual College Credit Plus agreements with Northwest State Community College (NSCC) and Rhodes State College.
