CONTINENTAL – Almira Eleanor Carder, 96, of Continental, passed away at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2025, at The Meadows of Kalida. She was born December 8, 1928, in Putnam County to the late Jay W. and Esther (Kirkendall) Troyer. On September 26, 1956, she married Donald Lee Carder, who preceded her in death on April 19, 2009.
She is survived by two children: Lou Ann (Kevin) Johnston of West Lafeyette, Indiana and Kevin (Elizabeth) Carder of Scarborough, Maine; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Luella Troyer of Continental.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three siblings: Keith Troyer, Virgil (Leonice) Kirkendall and William (Kay) Troyer.
Eleanor was a homemaker, member of the North Mt. Zion Church, Continental and former member of the Ladies Aid at church. She enjoyed quilting and will be well-remembered for her delicious pie baking at church dinners.
Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at North Mt. Zion Church, Continental with Rev. Brent Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery, Continental. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental and 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday at the church.
