
Tuesday night had Continental High softball defending the home diamond till the fourth inning when the visiting Antwerp Archers rallied for the victory. The game started out the Pirates way as they took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Archers would put up a 4 spot in the top of the second to take a 4-1 lead. The Pirates would match those 4 runs in the bottom of the second to retake the lead 4-3. The Pirate 1 run lead would last to the top of the 4th when the Archers would plate 4 runs to take the lead for good 8-5. The Archers would expand their lead to 6 in the top of the 5th with 3 more runs. Archers 11-5. The Pirates offense could not get back on track. Archers 11-5 final.
Gracie Homier pitched a complete game going 7 innings giving up 11 runs (4 earned) on 16 hits with 7 strikeouts and 0 walks. The Pirates had 3 errors.
Alli Scott led the Pirate hitting attack with 3 singles and scored 2 runs. Gracie Homier hit a triple scoring a run and driving in 2. Aislynn Noffsinger hit a single, scored and drove in a run. Lauren Williams hit a double and drove in a run. Raegan Clemens hit a single and drove in a run. Overall the Pirates had 7 hits and 1 walk.
Continental falls to 1-1 and will host Pettisville on Friday. Antwerp improves to 3-0.
