
A 19 point Antwerp run in the first half helped propel the Archers to victory on Saturday night as they ventured into the Cove for a non league Boys Basketball game against Continental. The Archers put in the first basket and the Pirates Konnor Knipp Williams equaled that for a 2-2 score. It was then all Archers in the first quarter as they would put together the last 13 points of the quarter. Archers 15-2 after 1. The Archers would put in the first 6 points of the second quarter to expand their lead to 19, 21-2. Knipp William would convert a 3 point play, the opposition would stop that run and make it 21-5 Archers. The Archers would finish the half scoring with an 8 point run. Archers 29-5 at half.
The Archers put in the first basket in the second half to make it 31-5. The two teams would then exchange baskets with Knipp Williams hitting for the Pirates 33-7 Archers. A basket by Gavin Huff was then followed by a pair of Archer baskets 37-9 Archers. Huff would add a basket and a pair of free throws to make it 37-13. The Archers would hit the last points of the quarter. Archers 39-13. The Archers would put in the first 4 points of the fourth to make it a 30 point game. Archers 43-13. The Pirates would score 3 as Knipp Williams would hit a basket and Huff a free throw 43-16. The Archers would go on a 10 point run to make it 53-16. A pair of Knipp Williams free throws would finish off the scoring at 53-18 Archers.
Konnor Knipp Williams led the Pirates with 11 points while Gavin Huff put in 7. The Pirates shot 6-8 from the line. The Archers made the only two 3 pointers.
Continental falls to 2-4 and will travel to Delphos St Johns for a non league game on Tuesday. Antwerp improves to 5-0.
