
A four point run at the end of the half changed momentum to the Apaches way on Friday night as Fairview hosted Continental in boys nonleague basket ball. The game started all Apaches as they opened the game up with 2 field goals and a pair of made free throws.. The Pirates rallied back from the 6 point start with a basket by Reed Warnement and Gavin Huff and a 3 by Mitchell Coleman to take a 7-6 lead. A pair of Apache field goals would it 10-9 Apaches. An Alex Sharrits field goal made it a one point game 10-9. A basket the Apaches was bettered by a 3 from Mitchell to make it 12 all. It looked like the 1st quarter would end up a tie till the buzzer when the Apaches hit a 3. Apaches 15, Pirates 12.
The second quarter had the Apaches expand their lead to 5 when they made the first basket. The Pirates would battle back and take a 18-17 lead when Huff, Warnement, and Bryce Recker would all make baskets. That was the last Pirate lead for the night as the Apaches would take a 22-18 lead thanks to a 3 and a 2. The Pirates would make it a 2 point game when Coleman would make a basket 22-20 Apaches. The Apaches would close out the half’s scoring with a pair of baskets. Apaches 26-22 at half.
The Apaches would open up the second half with a basket to expand their lead to 8. The Pirates first second half score would come form a Huff basket 28-22 Pirates. The Apaches would continue to expand their lead in the third as the would hit a 3 and a 2 to make it a 33-22 Apache lead. A 3 by Huff would make it an 8 point game 33-25. The two teams would trade baskets twice with the Pirates getting hoops from Warnement and Coleman. Apaches 37 Pirates 29. The Apaches would finish out the quarter hitting a 3. Apaches 40,Pirates 29 after 3.
The fourth quarter as the only offense the Pirates could muster was Huff basket and a free throw form Warnement. Apaches 52, Pirates 32 final.
Gavin Huff led the Pirates with 11 points while Mitchell Coleman put in 10. Reed Warnement scored 7 Bryce Recker and Alex Sharritis 2 each. Coleman hit a pair of 3s for the Pirates while Huff made 1. The Apaches made 4 3s.
