
A great start by host Continental High on Monday went for naught as Antwerp scored 7 runs in the last 3 innings to take the non league baseball game. The Archers got on the board first by scoring a run in their first at bat. The Pirates matched it in the bottom of the first when Jayden Pitney crossed the plate. The score remained 1 all through the next 3 innings. The Archers would plate 2 runs in the fifth, 3 runs in the sixth and 2 runs in the seventh to take the 8-1 win.
The Pirates had 2 hits. Nolan Cordes and Logan Hammond both had a hit and a walk. Jayden Pitney scored a run.
Rhettik Bowers started for the Pirates and took the loss. Bowers gave up 4 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks and 9 strikeouts in 5 innings. Jayden Pitney pitched 1 inning giving up 2 runs (1 run earned) 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Quinn Tegenkamp pitched 1 inning giving up 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits.
Continental falls to 4-7 and will play at Fort Jennings on Tuesday. Antwerp improves to 2-11.
