On Saturday Continental hosted Fairview in non league baseball action. In the 5 inning game the Apaches plated multiple runs in each inning and withstood a Pirate rally in the bottom of the fifth. It was 2-0 Apaches after 1. The Apaches added 5 more runs in the second to make it 7-0. Two Apache runs in the third were followed by a pair of 4 run innings in the fourth and fifth. The Apaches took a 17-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth the Pirates plated 5 runs for the 17-5 Apache final.
The Pirates had 4 hits in the game while the Apaches had 8 hits. Jacob Williams had a double for the Pirates. Cole Bowers took the loss for the Pirates. The Pirates are now 1-4 while the Apaches are 6-0. The Pirates are back in action on Monday when they travel to Ottoville for a Putnam County League game.
The game was delayed while the funeral procession of Cedric Williams (long time Pirate Softball pitching coach) passed by the school. A fitting tribute.
