
A great offensive start for the DV Pirates went for naught on Thursday as the Pirates played up a division against DIV Bryan. A game that was rescheduled 3 times and finally played on the turf at the Bryan High School Football field saw the Pirates score in the first minute as Rhettik Bowers hit the back of the net off a Bain Stegbauer pass. The Bears scored the equalizer 10 minutes later. Bowers hit the back of the net for a second time to put the Pirates up 2-1 with 21:34 left in the first half. The Bears would convert a penalty kick with 14:28 left in the half to make it 2 all. Collin Davis would make a penalty kick for the Pirates with 12:17 left in the half to make it 3-2 Pirates at half. The Bears would put in 2 goals in the first 4 minutes of the second half to take a 4-3 lead. The Bears converted a penalty kick with 9 minutes to go to take the 5-3 win.
Rhettik Bowers scored a pair of goals for the Pirates while Collin Davis scored 1. Bain Stegbauer picked up an assist.
Jayden Pitnery took the loss in goal for the Pirates making 2 saves. Continental had a 8-7 advantage on shots on goal and a 3-2 advantage on corner kicks. Continental falls to 6-4-2 and will travel to Van Buren on Tuesday. Bryan improves to 9-3-1.
