For the third straight year Ottoville will be making the trip to Columbus to play in the OHSAA Division IV State playoffs. The Big Green made a scoring and defensive statement early in the Elida Regional as they defeated Arlington 62-28. Last year the Big Green made to the State Finals to fall to Minister 63-48. The Big Green will play Shadyside on Friday at 3:00.
The Big Green is 24-3 and were runner up in the Putnam County League and advanced to State out of the Elida Regional. The Big Green was ranked 6th in the final State Poll. Shadyside advanced out of the Pickerington Regional where they defeated Peebles 55-45. Shadyside is 24-4 and are a member of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference. Shadyside was runnerup in the Division 2A of the OVAC. The OVAC is a 50 team league divided into 5 Divisions with teams from Ohio and West Virginia. Shadyside is along the Ohio River and is in Belmont County. They are not too far from Wheeling West Virginia.
The other half of the State DIV bracket features defending State Champion Minster going against Willoughby Cornerstone Christian. Minister was ranked #2 in the final state poll while Cornerstone Christian was ranked 9th. Minister is the Midwest Athletic Conference champs and has a 26-1 record. Minster defeated #1 ranked Fort Laramie 43-29 in the Vandalia Regional Finals. Cornerstone Christian is 23-4 and advanced to State by defeating Dalton 43-29. The Minister Cornerstone Christian game will tip off on Friday at 1:00.
