
On Saturday, Continental High ventured North to Archbold for a non league boys basketball game. Archbold controlled the early action as they put in 9 of the first 10 points as a Chris Potts free throw was the Pirates only point. A basket by Nick States made it 9-3 but the Blue Streaks put together a 9 point run to make it 18 – 3. A Pirates basket by Caleb Olds ended the Pirates first quarter scoring at 5. The Blue Streaks would add on 5 points to their total to make it 23-5 after 1.
The second quarter had the Blue Streak hitting the first 7 points to open up a 25 point lead before Jarret Keck hit a free throw to stop the 12 point run. A Blue Streak 5 point run was topped when Mitchell Coleman hit a 3, Archbold 35, Continental 9. A Blue Streak basket was met with a Christian Keller free throw to make it 37-10. Another Blue Streak basket was offset by pair of Potts free throws, 39-12. The Blue Streaks would put in 6 more points in the half to the Pirates 3 (Olds 3 point play) for a 45-15 half time Archbold advantage.
Keck put in the first 2 points of the second half which was met by a 5 point Blue Streak run. A 3 by Potts made it 50-20 Blue Streaks. A 5 point run by the Blue Streaks was stopped when States hit a pair of free throws to make it 55-22. The Blue Streaks put in 9 of the last 12 points of the quarter to make it 64-25 Blue Streaks after 3. An 11 point fourth quarter had the Pirates putting in 4 (States 3, Bryce Recker 1) to the Blue Streaks 7 making the final score Blue Streaks 71, Pirates 29.
Caleb Olds led the Pirates with 8 points Nick States put in 7. Chris Potts had 6 points, Jarrett Keck and Mitchell Coleman 3 each, and Bryce Recker and Cameron Mason both had 1.
Continental falls to 1-14 and will travel to Wayne Trace on Tuesday. Archbold improves to 11-3.
