On Friday night all that the Pirates needed to do was to secure a tie with Kalida and they would own the 2016 Putnam County League Championship by themselves. If you do not give up a goal then the worst you can do is tie. Well the Pirates held the host Wildcats scoreless but the Wildcats did the same to the Pirates for the 0-0 tie. In a defensive struggle with shots on goal at a premium had the Pirates narrowly winning the shots on goal 5-3. Pirate Goalie Trevor Williamson had 3 saves in the shutout while the Wildcat goalie made 5 saves.
Continental moves to 8-1-2 (3-0-1 PCL) while Kalida is now 3-5-3 (1-1-1 PCL). Continental has a week off and will travel to New Knoxville on Saturday for a 1 pm start.
