
A couple of key innings by host New Bremen proved to be the difference on Saturday against Continental. The Cardinals, after blanking the Pirates in the first, scored 3 times to take the early lead. After a couple of scoreless frames the Cardinals scored 6 in the bottom of the fourth to take a 9-0 lead. A run by the Cardinals in the bottom of the sixth ended the game at 10-0.
Jayden Pitney hit 2 singles and earned a walk to lead the Pirate offense. Rhettik Bowers earned a walk, got hit by a pitch and stole a base. Quinn Tegenkamp started and took the loss for the Pirates going 5 innings, giving up 9 runs (7 earned) on 8 hits and 3 walks. Haden Striecher gave up 1 run on 2 hits and a walk in relief. Continental falls to 2-6 and will host Columbus Grove on Tuesday. New Bremen improves to 4-2.
