A few tears were shed on Monday night as 35 pounds of onions were diced at the “Chop & Crumble” night at Christ United Methodist Church. Leading up to the church’s annual Turkey Supper, the yearly preparations are part of the tradition too. Crumbling 100 loaves of dried bread, chopping 30 bunches of celery and processing the onions are all part of making the best dressing for the Turkey Supper! On Saturday morning, a group will gather at the church to mix it all together and start the baking. Its all a lot of work but with over 90 years of Turkey Suppers, it goes like clockwork. The congregation is excited to once again offer this Thanksgiving meal to the community.
Serving starts at 4pm on Saturday, November 17th. Cost is by donation, dine-in or carry-out. The meal includes turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, cranberry salad, applesauce, cole slaw and pie. We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday and wish a blessed Thanksgiving to all!
