Open letter to parents/guardians concerning 7th Grade orientation:
Dear Parents/Guardians and 7th Grade Students:
I would like to take this opportunity to personally welcome you to the Junior High/High School building! I understand that the transition to this building from the elementary may be somewhat intimidating for students and parents/guardians, and to help with this transition, there are a couple of upcoming events I want to you to be aware of.
First of all, I will be holding a 7th grade orientation meeting on Wednesday, August 17th at 10:00 am. The orientation session will be held in the Casteel Auditorium and will last approximately one hour. During this meeting, students will have the opportunity to pick up the student planner and course schedule as well as take a guided tour of the building. I will lead a session for both students and parents about general school rules and policies and answer any questions or address any concerns that you may have. Orientation is also a good time to pay student fees, deposit money into lunch accounts, and find classrooms, lockers, and other areas that students may not be familiar with.
In addition, the district will be holding an “Open House” event on Monday, August 22nd from 4:00-6:00 pm for all students in grades K-12. This is an excellent opportunity for parents and students to meet all of the teachers and bring supplies to school (so they don’t have to be brought on the school bus the first day of school).
The first day of school for students is Tuesday, August 23. As a point of information, the school day begins at 8:15 am in the Junior High/High School building. Any student that is not in their first period class by 8:15 am is considered tardy to school.
