CHS March 2023 Student of the Month – Alyssa Burgei

April 18, 2023 by Adam Donaldson

Continental High School’s March 2023 Student of the Month is senior Alyssa Burgei.

The staff at CHS recognize Alyssa for her dedication, leadership, kind heart, and positivity. This winter Alyssa broke her ankle but continued to attend cheerleading practice, participating as much as possible and giving her feedback to her squad members. Despite the broken ankle, Alyssa was one of the leads in Tarzan, attending rehearsals while using a scooter and later performing in a walking boot. Her dependability and efforts to support Continental’s athletic teams will be difficult to match!

Alyssa is president of the National Honor Society and has been her class’s vice president for four years. She has performed in Continental’s last six musicals and plays clarinet and alto saxophone in the marching and concert bands. Additionally, she has been recognized as a four-year member of the Putnam County Honors Band. She competes in Quiz Bowl and is on the yearbook staff. Alyssa is a cheerleader and runs the soccer scoreboard and track home meets.

In the Continental community and throughout Putnam County, Alyssa has worked at Split Ends. She has been an altar server at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for the last eight years. Alyssa has also danced for 16 years at Cindy’s Tap on Wood Studio of Dance in Columbus Grove and participates in 4-H.

After graduation, Alyssa plans to attend the University of Findlay’s pre-veterinary program, with a goal of working in zoology.

Congratulations, Alyssa Burgei!
