In September, students at Continental High School and surrounding schools were invited to participate in the 2015 Community Rain Barrel Project through the Blanchard River Watershed Partnership. The mission of the BRWP is to:
“Encourage water quality improvements to our geologically unique, northwestern Ohio watershed, through sustainable land use, collaboration, conservation and enhancement of natural and man-made resources.”
This mission is developing a strong partnership through working relationships with citizens of all ages, local organizations, public agencies, residential and commercial businesses and the agricultural community throughout the Blanchard River Watershed in Allen, Hancock, Hardin, Putnam, Seneca, and Wyandot counties.
In October, the rain barrels were distributed to participating high schools. Students at each high school were challenged to promote increased water quality and community spirit and awareness. At CHS, Art students and FFA students took part in the Rain Barrel challenge and returned their barrels in February. All barrels were on display at the Findlay Village Mall, February 25 – March 2 where a panel of judges awarded prizes. Thank you to the students and teachers at CHS for supporting this project!
