
The regular meeting for the Continental School Board was held at 6:00 p.m. on February 20, 2018 in the administrative office. The meeting was called to order by the president Dean Bidlack.
Mrs. Tracy Potts, Elementary Principal, reported:
•Students participated in Random Acts of Kindness the month of February.
•The Elementary Book Fair is scheduled for March 5th-9th with Family Night on March 8th from
3:30-6:00 p.m.
•Mrs.Schmiedebusch and Mrs. Roney and myself attended the Ohio Education Technology Conference.
The teachers are excited to share the latest trends in technology.
•The after-school program recently had their annual review. At this time, next year’s funding is undecided.
•50 people attended the after-school program movie day last Saturday.

Mr. Tim Eding, JH/HS Dean of Students, reported:
•Mrs. Potts and I had the privilege of attending the Ohio Educational Technology Conference along with four
teachers last week in Columbus. It was an outstanding trip and all who attended brought back ideas and
information to use in their own classroom as well as to share with other staff members.
•Homecoming weekend was a success! Thank you to Mrs. Fuller and Mrs. Baker for taking the lead and
helping plan all of the weekend’s festivities.
•Basketball tournament brackets are posted to the website, spring sports schedules will be posted soon.

Treasurer’s Report:
The Board:
•Approved a resolution to accept the amounts and rates as determined by the Budget Commission and authorizing the
necessary tax levies and certifying them to the County Auditor.
•Accepted the following donations:
$328.50 from Jetta Wildermuth to the State and Music Fund
$80.00 from the Class of 1952 to the Continental Scholarship Fund, in memory of Clifford Simon and Viola
(Schwartzengraber) Sorensen
$61.00 from the American Legion Post 541 to the Junior Class for Concessions on MIlitary Night
$20.00 from the American Legion Post 541 to the Athletic Fund for Programs on Military Night
$50.00 from Jim and Tammy Hiltner to the Softball Fund to be used for the purchase of a pitching machine
Superintendent’s Report:
•The transportation report was heard.
•Approved an overnight trip to Camp Wilson in Bellefontaine, Ohio on March 19 & 20 for students in Grades 5 & 6.
The cost of the camp will be $67.00 per student. Students will have the opportunity to offset this cost by participating in a February fundraiser.
•Approved the National Honor Society trip to University of Michigan Radrick Property on March 12, 2018.
•Approved the High School Spanish trip to Fort Wayne, Indiana to attend a Hispanic Flamenco Ballet on April 19,
2018.
•Approved second grade field trip to Science Central in Fort Wayne, Indiana on March 8, 2018.
•Ron Bradford gave the Vantage Career Center report.
The Board:
•Approved the following College Credit Plus partnership agreements for the 2018-2019 school year:
James A. Rhodes State College
Northwest State Community College
Owens Community College
The University of Toledo
Franklin University
•Adopted the 2018-2019 Continental School calendar. Students first day of school will be Tuesday, August 21st and
last day will be Thursday, May 23rd.
•Accepted the retirement resignation of EMIS Coordinator/Guidance Secretary Marie Bidlack, effective October 31,
2018. Marie has been at Continental School for the past 30 years and has been a tremendous asset to the students,
staff, and parents of the District. We thank her for her dedication and wish her the best in retirement.
•Approved a one-year, 80-day limited contract for Katelyn Adams, Assistant Treasurer/EMIS Coordinator, pending
satisfactory background checks, effective March 12, 2018 through June 30, 2018. Pay and benefits will be as
stipulated in the employment contract.
•Increased the hours/days of aide Maria Martinez from 5.5 to 6.5 hours per day; and from 184 to 189 days per year,
effective February 21st.
•Approved Spencer Ordway as a volunteer assistant baseball coach for the 2018 season.
